Not Sure If I Still Love NY

When I am asked what are my reasons in going abroad, I always say that I have many. They often ask me to enumerate some and I do so. Those guys think that I am joking when they hear that one of my reasons aside from the humanitarian and financial chuva is: gusto kong mag-trenchcoat at mag-boots. O diba, it's so superficial? Syemps, you don't get to do that here in the Perlas ng Silangan...you'd look like you're hooked on crack.

That's why I kept my eye on New York, Michigan, and DC. They have the meanest winters, as I was told. But I love to be in NY the most, not because Future USMD is there now but because of the mix of cultures so there is respect...and I get to wear trenchcoats and boots there.

Na-contact ko na yung Nursing Service ng NYU Medical Center before and they are willing to help me process my papers but according to them, I should do something about my working visa. Woo-hoo, hello retrogression! Kung kailan wala nang CGFNS Qualifying exam sa NY State, saka naman lumala ang visa retrogression...and it keeps on getting worse day by day. Peste. Now with all the ruckus brought by the visa retrogression, I'm starting to get totally discouraged to work in the US...even after working here in the Mole of Asia's territory.

That's the reason why I'm not doing anything for my CGFNS and NCLEX thingy even if my dad gave me the money for it. So friends, classmates and countrymen: don't ask me anymore about my NCLEX shiznit because now you know why.

And now, I'm not sure if I'd still love to be in NY.

But WHY NOT?! You'd miss all the fun. Kidding.
Seriously, I can't blame you if you seem to don't like to work in the US anymore. Anyway, you really won't rush to it by gaining experience sa teritory ng Mole of Asia (natawa ako dito) so there's still time to think.

Good luck! :)

^ Ambilis ng reply..pa-log off na sana ako. ;)
...and yeah, I'm still contemplating about the "working in the US" issue. Ayoko muna kasi mag-NCLEX until I have a firm decision on it.

I hope you'd think it over very well so that when you make your decision, you won't regret it. You still have a lot of time on your hands to do so. Good luck on it.

Talaga itong si Chae-gyeong! :)

Retrogression blah...sucks!!!

Sabi ng family friend namin (na graduating nursing student dun..dang 13,000USD ang tuition nya sa isa univ sa NY per semester) kung bakit sobrang hirap pumasok sa NY kasi they have more than enought BSN graduates there. And yeah...totoo that hospitals could sponsor you for everything including further studies for specialization un ang gagawin ko..Pinipilit ako ni mother ko na ma-Nurse Anesthetist nalang daw instead of an Independent Nurse Practioner. (The salary offer of more than a $100 per hour sounds very tempting..Good luck naman sa brain cells ko) >_<

I'm also having 2nd thoughts and I'm considering Toronto...I don't know I just fell in love with the place..I only need to cross Niagara to get to NY to go shopping in 5th Ave and see my parents there..bongga di ba?

You should contemplate on that KC

KC Cervales said...

Will do. Thanks Future USMD. =)

KC Cervales said...

Hoo-hoo! Boots talaga ito!

Sinabi mo pa. Nuknukan ng epal ang retrogression na yan.
Yep they're willing to assist you basta ikaw ang bahala sa working visa, CVS at NCLEX applications. I saw the NYUMC contact info over the internet. I only inquired through email tapos inexplain naman nila ng maayos ang policies.

One of the reasons too why I heart NY. :)

KC Cervales said...

Ay ganun? Pero they still hire foreign nurses...labo.

Di ba cool? Sinabi rin nila na basta makapag-work daw ako dun for a certain period, pwede daw nilang sagutin ang post-grad studies ko. Sosyal. Well, pwede rin pala akong maging anesthetist dun. Woo-hoo!

Ako ewan. European countries ang gusto ko. Hihi!

KC Cervales said...

Jusco Tinners, last year pa yan. Ganun akong ka-sabik mag-boots. LOL. Ewan ko lang if the offer still stands...

KC Cervales said...

I get what you're trying to say...and thanks for that. I thought about it that way too. Maybe my decision making is just affected by the retrogression. Kaya Tinners, ask Uncle George to grant those 61,000 pending visas now...make the Mole of Asia proud. Harhar.

KC Cervales said...

KC Cervales said...

KC Cervales said...

KC Cervales said...

Wow! Salamat Tine...ayoko ng Ugg Boots ha? LOL.

KC Cervales said...

Totoo ang mahal talaga. Kainis. I've heard about that reciprocity thing kaya naghahanap ako ng resource about that so I can read about it more. Yun din actually yung suggestion ng pinsan ko kasi she applied sa Vermont pero she's gonna work in Cali.

..yun nga lang, naipit siya ng retrogression.

KC Cervales said...

KC Cervales said...

Kumbaga parang breaktime. Mahirap naman ang super aral...

God, sobrang strict ng immigration ngayon sa US... Good luck with everyone who wants to move. I can't say I love NY too, kasi di ako mahilig sa big cities, although they're fascinating. Kahit ngayon, sobrang parusa when I have to go the city proper in Chicago... although it's quite a scene to see working people hurry to their jobs, ah, i hate commuting. Love the burbs, still! Probinsyana to... haha.

KC Cervales said...

Yay! Anna is a Chicago baby na. :)
