Looking for Something?

I need to vent about work related happenings. As some of you know, I am a clinic nurse. Sometimes it's fun to think that my work is interesting but sometimes it sucks because my practices clash with those of my colleagues who happens to be midwives (Note: No hint of discrimination here, thank you very much). I am the only nurse hired as of the moment because I function as a private duty nurse for my bone connector of a boss.

Just this afternoon, I was tapped to help out at the Delivery Room since we have no patients. During the episiorrhapy, the OB asked me to give 1 ampule of Methergine via IV push. After about 30 minutes after the procedure, I assessed the patient before rushing back to the Ortho office because there's a patient. I palpated that the uterus isn't that contracted and that the patient still bleeds.

Afterwards, I came back and read the OB-Gyn's post-delivery orders, indicating that I should give 200 mcg of Methergine via IV push. Since I know that the uterus isn't totally contracted, I know that that is what the drug is for. So I monitored the patient's blood pressure before giving the drug. And that's it.

Then my colleagues made such a fuss about me giving the drug. They told me that I overdosed because I already gave the Methergine during the episiorrhapy. WTF?! And if that is the case, why is everything on the post-DR orders applicable to the conditons after delivery? No one in their right mind would write intra-DR orders on post-DR orders. And considering that there's still bleeding a few hours postpartum and the uterus of the patient isn't well contacted.

I don't like fussy and this is the second time. First they made a fuss about how fast the IVF of a former patient was consumed even if I explained that I regulated it according to the order and that the rate of infusion is usually affected by the position shifts of the patient...and now this.

This is total mindfuck. I hate this.

Buhay Kuhol..Buksan Mo

Ok. So I am not on vacation because I only have a day off. Heh.
I got so jelly with other bloggers who posted their vacation escapades so I want to get into the spirit...para hindi halatang buhay-kuhol ako. Lol.

Here are some of the places I've been to during my bum life:

Antipolo, Rizal

Baguio City

Lingayen and Dagupan, Pangasinan

Lemery, Batangas (with my cousins)

Roxas City, Capiz

So in fairness, medyo exciting din naman ang buhay ng kuhol. Harhar.

Freebie, Schmeebie

One thing I like most are freebies. Well, who doesn't?

So while I was at work, my bosses were hounded by med reps from different pharmaceutical companies. Too bad for me, I had to attend to our admitted patient and my colleagues got all the nice freebies. All I was offered was a discount card for Gabapentin which I had no use for so I had to refuse. I admire the med reps for their persistence because one of them dug into her bag and pulled out something: a ruler. I thanked the med rep and decided to give the ruler to my brother just for fun.

When I got home, I did just that with a smirk. And when Christopher saw the ruler, he said "Ano ba yan ate! Tatanggalin ko na lang yung cover."
"Sige tanggalin mo na lang"
"Akala ko wala nang sulat yung ruler", he complained.

Before you think that my baby brother is an ungrateful dude, here's what was written in the ruler:

Baka daw kasi mapagkamalan siyang gumagamit niyan. Tch.

Work Is Done For Now

So today's my off. No biggie. I'm still getting used to waking up really early...and to the professional world so allow me to vent.

I don't know whether my training as a student is an advantage or a curse. I mean it srsly. My colleagues aren't trained to do out patient assessment and the patient's health history so they don't do that. I did it on my first day and they told me not to do it because it takes time. Yun pala, they were scolded because the patient influx traffic went slow. Na-guilty naman ako. Tch.

But whatevs, the clinic is a nice place to camwhore. Lol. Here are some photos I took:

I now belong to the working class. Woohoo!

Although it is just a specialty clinic for Orthopedics and Obstetrics-Gynecology, I'm thankful for it because I don't get to be stagnant. Plus, it's like an out-patient department, emergency room, delivery room/nursery, ward, and most importantly, an operating room rolled into one. And with that, I don't get to be bored because I won't do the routinary things.

Nakakatawa lang. I have been so open in my great dislike for OB-GYN. And now, it is kicking me hard in the ass because I have to deal with everything pink and squishy for 12 hours a day. Official na: member na ako ng vagina saving squad. Lol.

On a lighter note, it is a great learning experience because I already forgot a lot of things about Maternal and Child Nursing. That's one of the reasons why I took the job. I don't want to say that I hate it because I totally suck at it. Plus, I want to experience working on the different areas of concentration so that I won't get to satiated with just about everything. I also don't get to wear the standard white nurse's uniform and the cap. Haha!

With orthopedics, I don't have a problem because I'm used to exposed bones, blood and gore. That's where I'll get to have the "OR Experience" again because some surgeries like amputation, are done there. Ahhlavett!

And before I forget, I told some of my friends that when I get a job, it serves as my middle finger raised to the elitists and "the agency" that didn't give justice to what I have worked for. So THIS IS IT!
